Museum of Florida History
The Museum of Florida History is located in Tallahassee, in case your travels take you in that direction. They have compiled a list of over 5,000 quilts created in Florida but they don't have all 5,000 quilts available online - image if they did!
They do, however, have about two dozen quilts available online at: Museum of Florida History. They include information on these quilts including quilt type and maker, size, color selection, date of creation and other details (like the Chandler-Davis citrus packing house crew of Lakeland, Florida made a Friendship Quilt in 1938). And Lakeland's a great place, right next to famous Polk City, Florida.
Here are a few of their online quilts:

Hearts and Gizzards patten (c. 1907) Trenton Block Variation (c 1920-29) Rob Peter to Pay Paul (1928)
Their online quilts range from about 1830 to 2000.
Pretty good site, I hope you visit. Also, the site does have many easy links to other parts of the museum which includes so much great history on Florida. Well worth a look through if you're going to visit.
AND, if you are visiting I should mention that the Lisa Barton at the museum notified me of the following: Their upcoming 27th Annual Capital City Quilt Show: Through the Looking Glass. The annual quilt show features beautifully crafted quilts from members of Quilters Unlimited of Tallahassee. Visitors can qualify for a chance to win the "opportunity quilt" which is given away at the close of the exhibit or bid on silent auction items throughout the run of the exhibit. Museum Main Gallery, free. The dates of the exhibition are August 28 - November 9, 2008.
So, there's a free quilt show in Florida for late summer and through the fall 2008. Travel and quilting. Pretty good to me.
Best,
Fiona
