Michigan State Museum (and the Mary Schafer Collection)
This site always stops me in my tracks when I go to it.
There's such a wealth of information on quilting and quilts that this is truly a great site. Let's start at a good point, the exhibits page:
Michigan State Museum
This is divided into three sections: Current Exhibits, the Museum's Traveling Exhibits, and their Online Exhibits. I recommend you review their Current and Traveling Exhibits. There's a lot there.
For me, though, I am drawn directly to their Online Exhibits because of all the quilts they have by Mary Schafer, a Quilter's Hall of Fame inductee. Such beautiful work!
There are about 75 quilts that she worked on or collected in this link:
Mary Schafer
Here are some of the quilts:

Clicking on the images will give you a view of a larger picture and some background information on the quilt. Another link has biographical information on Mary and her quilt work. Great site to visit.
The rest of the site is well worth spending time roaming around as well.
For example, how about a great reference on maintaining and storing quilts:
Quilt Care
The Michigan State Museum really knows how to create a great site. Truly worth the visit.
Best,
Fiona
